This is a revised and updated edition of Backbiting (formerly entitled Gossip and its Adverse Effects). The translator, Huda Khattab, explains:
The Qur’an states: "…nor speak ill of each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? No, you would abhor it…" (Qur’an 49: 12)
We cannot escape the fact that backbiting affects us all. We have all been victims and, we must be honest, we have all been guilty of this sin. But it is not a matter to be taken lightly; backbiting can wreck lives and shatter communities.
Islam is a practical faith that recognizes the human condition and offers achievable remedies to the problems that beset us. Every human society faces the problem of backbiting, and Islam shows us how to tackle it in a sensible and humane manner. Husayn al-Awayishah has researched this topic in depth, and has presented a concise guide to the evils of backbiting and what can be done about it.
This book may make for uncomfortable reading, but the topic is one that every one of us has to face up to.

A detailed picture of what this society would look like.

    International Islamic Publishing House

    Adults

    English

    Muhammad Ali Al-Hashimi

This is the third book of the Ideal Islam series, where previous books include The Ideal Muslim and The Ideal Muslimah.

In a world plagued with wars, racism, political turmoil, economic downturns, and social anguish, many people are looking for an alternative in which justice, freedom, decency, and common sense will prevail. Such societies have existed in the past, in the golden eras of Islamic civilization, and we have the hope that, if Allah wills, such a society may appear again.

In The Ideal Muslim Society, Dr. Muhammad 'Ali al-Hashimi gives us a detailed picture of what this society would look like. Drawing on the extensive research of Islamic history and contrasting the ideal with the sorry state affairs in human societies today, he explores the religious, political, economic, social, and other facets of this ideal society, illustrating everything from the responsibilities of those in authority to the interactions between individuals on the humblest levels.

For those who are longing to see a better world, this book offers practical ideas and hope.

Muslim Manners make a rich contribution to necessary that knowledge. In order to live by God's unchanging standards Muslims need a clear understanding that Islam is a total system. This book provides information on kindness, obedience, helping others, respect hospitality, dress, hygiene and animal welfare. It also covers such subjects of topical relevance to today's young Muslims growing up in the West as obligations to parents and teachers, choosing the right company, racial and colour equality, purity, modesty and chastity.

  • The Ideal Muslimah

    Quick View

The Ideal Muslimah is proud of the great position that Islam has given her among humanity.

    International Islamic Publishing House

    Adults

    English

    9789960850399

    Muhammad Ali Al-Hashimi

The Ideal Muslimah is proud of the great position that Islam has given her among humanity. She performs her duties knowing that her role is clearly defined and that her rights are still, even today, greater than what any other ideology has provided. She is a woman of moral excellence, true to her nature, not confused by alien and morally bankrupt ideas. She preserves her self-respect and dignity through her piety in obedience to Allah (swta) and his Messenger (pbuh). She is the role model that every true believer hopes to emulate. This comprehensive work by Dr. Al-Hashimi is a valuable contribution for our English readers who will find the knowledge contained therein truly beneficial and inspiring. The True Islamic Personality of the Muslim Woman as Defined in the Qur'an and Sunnah: 'How does Islam form her personality? How may her development reach such a high level that had never before been attained in the history of womankind, except in their religion of Islam? This is the question to which the reader will find the answer in the following pages. I ask Allah (SWT) to accept my work and make it purely for His sake. May He benefit others through it, make it a source of reward for me in this life and the next, and make it a help for me on the Day of Reckoning. May He guide me through it to what is right, and protect me from errors of thinking, bad intentions, slips of the pen, weakness of arguments and excessive verbiage At a time when Muslim and Non-Muslim women are being harshly attached and attracted by the "feminist theories and studies" this book is a good approach and a reminder that Islam has held women as highly esteemed and respected. It is enough that the Holy Qur'an contains a full chapter on women. The sources of Islam i.e. the Holy Qur'an and the Prophetic Traditions have always spoken of the women's rights and made them full partners in the human venture of history more than any other religion or thought. Women in Islam are; mothers, sisters, partners, workers, scholars and business owners and managers… etc. Through this book outlines the ideal Muslimah personality as it should be according to the Qur'an and Sunnah Husbands, sons and daughters will also draw very much benefit from it. A true Muslimah is the one who is alert, knowledgeable, true to herself as well as to others. She is righteous, and faithful. She balances her obligations to Allah (SWT), her parents and children. She does not excel in one thing and neglect the other. She is a Qur'anic example to follow-, she is a woman whose examples to follow are the she-companions of the Messenger (PBUH). Her ideals are the wives of the Messenger (PBUH).

Some of the major tribulations of human existence are the consequences of committing sins and spreading evil into the world. According to the moral scale of Islam, it is known that man is imperfect and fallible and prone to committing sins. This is part of his innate weak nature as a finite, limited creature. However, it is a sin if he has the ways and means to attain relative moral perfection and deliberately chooses not to seek it.

This book discusses social issues that affect all human beings whether in the home, school or workplace.

    Adults

    Arabic

    Amr Khaled

This book discusses social issues that affect all human beings whether in the home, school or workplace. The concept of teamwork is hard to implement when several people are involved. Egos and personalities tend to clash, thus inhibiting the opportunity for growth on a multitude of levels. Case in point, there was a company in New Zealand run by the 7th generation of owners from the same family. However, one day the patriarch of the family died. The remaining heirs quarreled over ownership and how the company should be run. In the end, no one was willing to compromise and the company was disintegrated into sixty individual factories. Contrastingly, in Europe, companies routinely merge with other companies to gain even more dominance. Obviously, a similar mindset is missing from our culture.

It also demonstrates that cohabitation and communication are difficult to implement. This holds true especially in schools, and even colleges, where the curriculum does not dictate how we can learn to interact with our fellow man or learn to share a mutual space. This book delves deep into the dynamics of human interaction and provides solutions that work. Within its pages it teaches:
    • Husbands and wives how to communicate with one another.
    • Youths how to communicate with their parents effectively and with respect.
    • Parents how to communicate with their children in mutual respect and understanding.
    • Co-workers how to share a common space and work together to complete tasks.
Quite notably, the book addresses our youth who represent the future. Any young person, who wishes to succeed in life, must learn how to interact and communicate with other people in an effective manner. It also stresses that youths can have ideas that differ from someone else’s and still find a way to get along. The key is in finding a common ground between two parties to reach a compromise.
A wise scientist once said, “Now I can see clearly because I climbed on everybody's shoulders the day I listened to their opinions.” This book teaches life skills that anyone can master by implementing a set of tools to facilitate all aspects of life, whether in the workplace or at home.

Etiquette of Seeking Knowledge...It was from the way of our pious predecessors that they would learn etiquette before learning knowledge. This book has become one of the most important books on this topic today, being widely taught by the scholars and seekers of knowledge alike. Many areas are covered such as the etiquette of the seekers inner self, his conduct with his Sheikh, importance of good companionship, adorning oneself with the implementation of knowledge, and precautions to identify.

To adorn oneself with beautiful etiquette, noble manners, good behavior, and pious conduct are distinguishing characteristics of the people of Islam, and knowledge the most precious pearl in the crown of the purified sharee’ah cannot be attained except by those who adorn themselves with its etiquette and those who leave evil qualities associated to it. For this reason the scholars devoted their attention to this etiquette, outlined its importance and wrote books solely on this topic; either pertaining to [general conduct] with all type of knowledge such as the etiquette of the carriers of the Noble Qur’an, the etiquette of the muhaddith, the etiquette of the muftee, the etiquette of the qaadee (judge), the etiquette of the muhtasib (the one who enjoins good and forbids evil for the sake of ALLAH (s.w.t)) and so on. The issue of this book is the general conduct of those who take the path of seeking the knowledge of the share’ah.
