We present this Arabic-English dictionary to our dear students in order to help them to solve the problems that they face in understanding English during their study. We have enriched the dictionary with around 25,400 of the Arabic words, including the corresponding meanings of each, to make it easier for the students to understand the words and phrases in a better way with enough information. The English section contains:
The verb "transitive or intransitive"
The word "adjective, noun, or pronoun"
Addition of sentences as examples for correct usage.
In the Arabic section, we stressed on:
Clarity and accuracy
Using different meanings to each English word so that the student can select the suitable meaning for proper use.
Using expressions - phrases - applicable to science, engineering, agriculture etc...
Explaining the meaning of the Arabic word whenever necessary.
We, with this work, hope that we have presented and done for our students whatever is beneficial and helpful to facilitate their study.
هذا المعجم (الطالب) معجم عربي - انجليزي. نقدمه لطلابنا الأعزاء، كي يجدوا فيه عوناً على حل ما يعترضهم من مشكلات أثناء دراستهم، وقد راعينا في إعداده أن يضم مايقارب 25400 من الكلمات الشائعة، والعبارات المتداولة، التي يحتاج إليها الطلاب عند دراستهم لإحدى اللغتين العربية أو الانجليزية معتمدين في عملنا هذا على أحدث المعاجم عربية وإنجليزية.
والمعجم مرتب ترتيباً ألفبائياً وفق الحروف الأولى للكلمات العربية، دون أن يحتاج الطالب العودة إلى جذر الكلمة الذي اشتقت منه وقد اعتمدنا في إعداده على المنهج الآتي:
أولاً: في القسم العربي:
اعتمدنا اللغة العربية الفصحى كما أوردها المعجم المدرسي الصادر في الجمهورية العربية السورية عام 1985م.
لم نلتفت إلى (الـ التعريف) عند ترتيب الكلمات إلا عندما تكون لازمة.
أوردنا الكلمات بصيغة المفرد، إلا عندما تكون الكلمة مما يغلب استخدامه في صيغة المثنى أو الجمع.
أوردنا الكلمة بصيغة المذكر، دون التفات إلى صيغة المونث، إلا حيث تتخذ الكلمة دلالة خاصة بالمؤنث.
أوردنا الفعل غالباً في صيغة الماضي.
لم نميّز في الترتيب بين أشكال الألف المتنوعة: ممدودة (آ)، أو مقصورة (ى)، بل عددناها كلها ألفاً عادية (أ).
الهمزة (ء) كالألف حيث وردت.
أشرنا إلى المصطلحات العلمية والهندسية وغيرها.
ثانياً: في القسم الإنجليزي:
فصلنا بين الكلمات المترادفة بفاصلة (،)، أما الفاصلة المنقوطة ( ; )، فاستعملناها بين الكلمات المختلفة المعنى اختلافاً يسيراً.
يمكن حذف ما وضع بين قوسين فغرض القوسين فقط الإشارة إلى جواز استعمال الكلمة الإنكليزية بأكثر من صيغة أو لوضع كلمة توضح غيرها أو ترادف مجاورتها أحياناً.
