Zain Bhikha was born in South Africa, and from an early age, showed a keen interest in entertaining his friends and family with his beautiful singing. He only seriously considered recording an album after winning a singing competition on a local radio station. He worked towards that goal, and his first full album was entitled “A Way of Life.” Since then, Bhikha has released a large number of albums, and his popularity and fan base has grown and expanded so much that, when it comes to English-speaking nasheed artists, he is now a household name. Bhikha has performed and collaborated with a number of other major artists, including Yusuf Islam, Native Deen, Dawud Wharnsby Ali, and his own son, Rashid Bhikha. Zain Bhikha mainly writes his own nasheeds or adapts them from poems and traditional Arabic nasheeds. His lyrics are driven by emotion and the need to reassure people that Islam is the answer and core of our everyday questions and confusion. In addition to music, he also writes and directs plays written specifically for schools.
