It is a pleasure to introduce to you Lughati An-Namia, My Developing Language. Beituna, Our Home; Al’abuna, Our Games; Ashabuna, Our Friends; for children ages four to seven with story books ages three to eight.
It is a child centered language integrated and leveled series with a clear scope and sequence that has proved successful with Arabic speaking children as well as non speakers and children with special needs.
Based on a deep understanding of the child’s basic physical and psychological needs, the social-cultural needs of his community, the learning process in general and Arabic language learning in particular, Lughati An-Namia aims at a well rounded educational and language development of the child.
Oral language development is basic in Lughati An-Namia’s methodology. The child responds cheerfully to “brainstorming questions” sings, recites poems and expresses himself in movement and words. Then he listens attentively and reacts to the daily read-aloud series of stories. Reading activities follow culminating in the child’s reader which consists of scenes of the same stories. Then writing activities drawing, art, science and math all related to the same theme and story.
“From the child, to the child” following the same philosophy and method, series of picture books were published, three accompany him into kindergarten Ila-l-Rawdat, five stories nourish his senses, Li Kulli Hassat Qissat and three stories take care of his health, Sihhati. Starting at six the child enjoys the eight stories of Qisas Ashabuna, within school and family atmospheres Madrasati wa ‘Ailati. Three stories were published separately, the first Nuzhat Maher, recently Alma wa Arnoob and this year Dawry Bel Mousaada. All stories meet esthetic literary standards in choice of language, rhyme, plot and dialogue.
