The Key to Arabic Book One adopts an innovative method in teaching the skills of reading and writing Arabic to absolute beginners from a broad age range by using a gradual, assimilative phonic approach. Extensive written exercises give students ample opportunity to put into practice the skills they have learned, enabling them to build up confidence in reading and writing vocalized Arabic text. The various vowel sounds and other markings are color coded to assist the reader further. Teaching language is a critical tool in communication and ultimately in the development of knowledge. In our quest to provide our customers with quality materials, we are pleased to offer the Learn Arabic series. It employs modern methods of teaching foreign language to successfully teach the Arabic language to students in K-12th grade. This series was founded upon the following three fundamentals of teaching languages presented in an Islamic context:

1. Elements: sounds, letters, phrases, and pronunciation
2. Skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening
3. Linguistic Functions: introduction, greetings, description, requests, and apologies.

Series Contents:
The Learn Arabic series consists of textbooks, workbooks, and teacher’s manuals for levels K-12th grade. The textbooks aim to present basic elements of the Arabic language and their functions, while the activity books focus on enrichment material with special emphasis on writing. The teacher’s manuals offer tips on teaching Arabic efficiently with positive results.

Support Material:
Teachers will be pleased with the full array of support materials available, such as a collection of audio records, posters, and cards. These books also include ideas for additional activities, such as chants, competitions, and linguistic plays. All of these materials will help to make each lesson exciting and active for students.

Student Textbook:
The Student Textbooks are comprised of 24 units: 66 basic lessons of new material, plus an additional 6 units for revision. Each basic unit contains 4 lessons of new material, including dialogue text, expressions, and vocabulary, and communication exercises. These units contain conversations, pronunciations and expressions, grammatical structures, listening, reading, thinking, writing, and extra activities, such as selections of Qur’an, hadeeth and nasheed. The teacher books include a midterm and final test. Answer keys can be found in the teacher's manuals.

Activity Book:
The activity book simply enhances the material found within the student textbooks. It mainly concentrates on writing skills with some review of verbal skills. Each contains many different activities which can be done at school or at home, such as coloring and painting pages; word matches; reading letters and sentences; writing words, letters, and numbers; and answering questions. Some of the activities should be completed at home with a parent to strengthen the relationship between home and school.

The ninth textbook is made up of four units; each unit has five lessons and ends with a test. In total, the book has twenty lessons and four tests. Each lesson of the book consists of a text that has a conversation, an illustrated story, an illustrated presentation of vocabulary, practice on sounds and letters, two exercises on structures and speech, and writing practice. After completing the material in the textbook, the student can complete the complementary exercises in the workbook.

Goals & Contents:
The “I love Arabic” series will help students with verbal and editorial communication in Arabic. To achieve this goal, the series provides the student with educational materials that will help him to utilize formal Arabic from the start and will create the opportunity for him to use what he is learning in real conversations.

The series is directed towards non-Arabic speaking children ages 6-18 years. It consists of fourteen levels, each level includes three books which are:

1. Student’s Book.
2. Student's Workbook.
3. Teacher’s Book.

The linguistic content:
The series displays the vocal system of the Arabic language in its different phenomena. It presents vocabularies that are common in an Arabic dictionary for children. It also features 4,300 words and it concentrates on pictorial concrete vocabulary in the first two books.
The series provides the student with a number of basic linguistic structures (about 500 structures). Each lesson contains a specific number of structures and expressions. The lessons gradually advance and each principle is revisited from one lesson to the next. It also includes the entirety of the Arabic syntax rules in the levels (fifth- twelfth) and combines application with practical training based upon theoretical rule.

Integration between the linguistic skills:
The series addresses the four main linguistic skills which are: reading, listening, speaking and writing in a balanced integrated way. Special attention is given to speaking and understanding what is heard in the first two books. In the third through sixth books the concentration is on dictation and reading. In the seventh through ninth books the aim is to connect schools with Arabic libraries, children’s magazines, encyclopedias and helps to simplify knowledge departments.
And in the tenth through twelfth books subjects and literature is presented in their original text with some adjustment. It also presents chosen examples of poetry prose from the poets Al Jahili, Al Omawi, Al Abbasi along with contemporary poets.

Educational material presenting methods:
Different methods are used in this series to make the lesson exciting for the child. Stories, songs, conversations, linguistic games and entertaining homework are incorporated in the lessons to entice learning and help students identify their preferences. It also helps to awaken students' passion for drawing, coloring and teamwork.
The series includes different types of linguistic exercises that suit children. An emphasis has been given in terms of mental and physical activities, whether performed in pairs or groups.

Vocabulary list:
There is a list of vocabulary at the end of each book in this series that contains all vocabularies and expressions which were presented in all book lessons. The words are alphabetized so the student can find the words needed easily.

Evaluation quizzes:
Each book of the series books includes a number of phase quizzes for evaluation and measuring the student’s progress in learning the language.

General Writing Instructions

1. Read the subject carefully, at least twice. Underline the words or sentences that represent the main ideas of the subject.
2. Ask yourself, "What did they ask me to write?"
3. Beware of straying off subject.
4. Think before you write.
5. Have a plan for your subject.
6. Start with a small focused introduction.
7. Finish your subject one passage at a time, following the plan you have created.
8. Take advantage of fluent expressions and quote suitable proverbs.
9. Conclude the subject with a focused sentence that best summarizes your chosen subject.
10. Don't neglect punctuation marks.
11. Correct all grammatical and spelling errors.
12. Reread what you have written to ensure you have thoroughly covered the subject.
13. Finally, copy your subject.

The second level of Ya Hala reinforces skills students have acquired in the first level. It returns to what students learned in the two parts of the first level, and reinforces the connections between the different ideas in order to strengthen them. This book’s role in the series is therefore to act as a bridge between beginner and intermediate levels.
