As the interest in studying Arabic has increased exponentially over the past decade, the needs of our students have evolved. Rather than learning Arabic for the purpose of reading sources for dissertation writing, most students coming to Arabic today wish to use their Arabic skills in order to obtain positions in the business world, in NGOs, and in government-related employment. Especially at state universities, the population of Arabic students is composed of undergraduates who are interested in the Arabic of everyday life: every time that our Arabic program has polled students on their goals for learning the language, the primary one had been speaking. However, historically, AFL teaching materials have lagged behind those of other languages in terms of leading the learner of Arabic from the more basic to the more advanced conversation skills, functions, and topics. This book represents an attempt to build the Arabic learner's communicative skills sequentially, in terms of vocabulary, grammar, and functional skills. It introduces the student to basic topics that are easily accessible and frequently used in everyday conversation, providing in each lesson a dialogue; speaking, reading, and writing exercises; cultural information; and selections from Arabic magazines and websites. The book focuses on developing spoken MSA skills as a way to enable the beginning student to communicate with speakers across a variety of dialects. This textbook is for those students who have taken about 4 semesters of Arabic or who are at the Intermediate Mid level (ACTFL). Learning at this level remains communicative and rich in dialogues and exercises that are all related to the dialogue learned. Dialects are introduced again through songs from various parts of the Arab world. In addition, authentic stories from the Arab old tradition are introduced and learned. The textbook integrates all four language strands: speaking, listening, reading and writing. We believe that this book presents an exciting new direction in Arabic language pedagogy in the United States. Teaching language is a critical tool in communication and ultimately in the development of knowledge. In our quest to provide our customers with quality materials, we are pleased to offer the Learn Arabic series. It employs modern methods of teaching foreign language to successfully teach the Arabic language to students in K-12th grade. This series was founded upon the following three fundamentals of teaching languages presented in an Islamic context:

1. Elements: sounds, letters, phrases, and pronunciation
2. Skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening
3. Linguistic Functions: introduction, greetings, description, requests, and apologies.

Series Contents:
The Learn Arabic series consists of textbooks, workbooks, and teacher’s manuals for levels K-12th grade. The textbooks aim to present basic elements of the Arabic language and their functions, while the activity books focus on enrichment material with special emphasis on writing. The teacher’s manuals offer tips on teaching Arabic efficiently with positive results.

Support Material:
Teachers will be pleased with the full array of support materials available, such as a collection of audio recordings, posters, and cards. These books also include ideas for additional activities, such as chants, competitions, and linguistic plays. All of these materials will help to make each lesson exciting and active for students.

Student Textbook:
The student textbooks are comprised of 24 units: 66 basic lessons of new material, plus an additional 6 units for revision. Each basic unit contains 4 lessons of new material, including dialogue text, expressions, and vocabulary, and communication exercises. These units contain conversations, pronunciations and expressions, grammatical structures, listening, reading, thinking, writing, and extra activities, such as selections of Qur’an, hadeeth and nasheed; where the teacher books include a midterm and final test. Answer keys can be found in the teacher's manuals.

Workbook:
The workbook simply enhances the material found within the student textbooks. They mainly concentrate on writing skills with some review of verbal skills. Each contains many different activities which can be done at school or at home, such as:

• coloring and painting pages
• word matches
• reading letters and sentences
• writing words, letters, and numbers
• and answering questions.

Some of the activities should be completed at home with a parent to strengthen the relationship between home and school.

The workbook consists of 15 units that offer additional practice for students, with self-study exercises to practice the language taught in the Student's Book, including exercises on pronunciation and spelling.

This book consists of three chapters. The first chapter talks about the standards in general; the second chapter explains the standards in detail—the standards of Arabic language arts which were written by Dr. Hanada Taha. The third chapter includes learning objectives for each grade level. Each learning objective includes an appendix for visual words, evaluation standards, and grammar, morphology, and dictational concepts according to Dr. Hanada Taha’s standards.

This three-part course in Modern Standard Arabic for non-native speakers approaches the language through a series of themed topics—daily life in the Arab world, politics and governance, literature and the arts, science and medicine, astronomy—concentrates principally on listening and speaking skills. In each section, vocabulary is built up as various linguistic structures and strategies are introduced and practiced in a clear introduction to Arabic grammar. A CD accompanies Volume 1, and in addition to a full glossary of vocabulary items at the end of each volume (with meanings in both English and French).
A supplementary dictionary, al-Mu‘jam al-musa‘id (sold separately), gives a complete key to the vocabulary of all three books in four languages: English, French, Spanish, and German. Comprehensive and easily digestible, varied and informative, these books make an ideal basis for a classroom-based course in Arabic anywhere in the world.

The seventh textbook is made up of four units; each unit has five lessons and ends with a test. In total, the book has twenty lessons and four tests. Each lesson of the book consists of a text that has a conversation, an illustrated story, an illustrated presentation of vocabulary, practice on sounds and letters, two exercises on structures and speech, and writing practice. After completing the material in the textbook, the student can complete the complementary exercises in the workbook.

Goals & Contents:
The “I love Arabic” series will help students with verbal and editorial communication in Arabic. To achieve this goal, the series provides the student with educational materials that will help him to utilize formal Arabic from the start and will create the opportunity for him to use what he is learning in real conversations.
The series is directed towards non-Arabic speaking children ages 6-18 years. It consists of fourteen levels, each level includes three books which are:

1. Student’s Book.
2. Student's Workbook.
3. Teacher’s Book.

The linguistic content:
The series displays the vocal system of the Arabic language in its different phenomena. It presents vocabularies that are common in an Arabic dictionary for children. It also features 4,300 words and it concentrates on pictorial concrete vocabulary in the first two books.
The series provides the student with a number of basic linguistic structures (about 500 structures). Each lesson contains a specific number of structures and expressions. The lessons gradually advance and each principle is revisited from one lesson to the next. It also includes the entirety of the Arabic syntax rules in the levels (fifth- twelfth) and combines application with practical training based upon theoretical rule.

Integration between the linguistic skills:
The series addresses the four main linguistic skills which are: reading, listening, speaking and writing in a balanced integrated way. Special attention is given to speaking and understanding what is heard in the first two books. In the third through sixth books the concentration is on dictation and reading. In the seventh through ninth books the aim is to connect schools with Arabic libraries, children’s magazines, encyclopedias and helps to simplify knowledge departments.
And in the tenth through twelfth books subjects and literature is presented in their original text with some adjustment. It also presents chosen examples of poetry prose from the poets Al Jahili, Al Omawi, Al Abbasi along with contemporary poets.

Educational material presenting methods:
Different methods are used in this series to make the lesson exciting for the child. Stories, songs, conversations, linguistic games and entertaining homework are incorporated in the lessons to entice learning and help students identify their preferences. It also helps to awaken students' passion for drawing, coloring and teamwork.
The series includes different types of linguistic exercises that suit children. An emphasis has been given in terms of mental and physical activities, whether performed in pairs or groups.

Vocabulary list:
There is a list of vocabulary at the end of each book in this series that contains all vocabularies and expressions which were presented in all book lessons. The words are alphabetized so the student can find the words needed easily.

Evaluation quizzes:
Each book of the series books includes a number of phase quizzes for evaluation and measuring the student’s progress in learning the language.

This is the first-ever series of graded stories for beginning and intermediate adult learners of Arabic as a foreign language. It is based on the following pedagogical principles: 1. gradual introduction of vocabulary and structure, in context. 2. frequent recycling of both. 3. a huge volume of comprehensible input. The 24 stories in this reader are divided into 6 levels of 4 stories each. Levels 1-3 for beginners, levels 4-6 for intermediate students. The stories range from 200 - 400 words.

The Key to Arabic: Book 2 builds on reading and writing skills taught in the first book by introducing students to simple sentence structures and key aspects of Arabic grammar, together with a basic vocabulary of well over three hundred words and expressions. Students are taught how to greet and say goodbye to people, how to introduce themselves, describe where they live, and speak about their nationality. They are also taught some aspects of everyday etiquette. Through this book, students gain an understanding of non-verbal and verbal sentences and are introduced to past and present tense verbs in their simplest singular forms. They also learn about attached and detached singular pronouns, uses of the 3 different cases (nominative, accusative, and genitive), masculine and feminine nouns and adjectives, interrogatives (questioning words), adverbs, prepositions, and many other points of grammar. Explanations are kept short and simple, and the use of color coding throughout the book assists students in learning to recognize the various case endings and verb conjugations more readily. Extensive exercises throughout the book provide ample opportunity for reinforcement and application of the topics covered.

This book includes 7 educational units that center on children's environment and their everyday activities.
The units are organized as follows:

• Let's Talk. Each unit begins with a conversation that includes the linguistic elements, vocabulary, expressions, and grammatical structures. The goal of the conversation is to make the learning process easy and to enable students to communicate using the language.
• New Vocabulary. Illustrated words enrich children's vocabulary and provide them with new words to use.
• Speaking: Speaking exercises to be completed in pairs allow children to gain fluency using the language by encouraging interaction, sharing, and communication between students.
