This series seeks to teach children Arabic and enhance the linguistic skills for non-Arabic speakers The objectives are:
  1. To make the Arabic language appealing to students and enable them to understand spoken Arabic.
  2. To assist students in reading written Arabic correctly, speaking the language properly and comprehending what is read.
  3. To enrich the student's linguistic resources so the student can learn to form correct Arabic sentences.
  4. To educate students about the heritage of the Arabic language and Islamic culture.
  5. To allow students to broaden his horizons and learn other subjects delivered in Arabic.
  6. To help students to learn to recite The Holy Quran, understand its meanings and perform Islamic rituals in Arabic.
This series is based upon five fundamentals:
  1. Psychology
  2. Linguistics
  3. Cultural Understanding
  4. Education
  5. Sociology
Students will learn the following linguistic skills in this order:
  1. Listening
  2. Speaking
  3. Reading
  4. Writing
Listening and speaking skills will:
  1. Make students accustom to Arabic sounds.
  2. Give students an awareness of the changing meanings that can occur by changing tones in one sentence.
  3. Allow students to mimic the teacher in speech.
  4. Allow students to understand what is heard.
  5. Give student's the ability to listen to Arabic conversations.
  6. Give student's the ability to speak the Arabic language as part of regular conversation.
Teaching Methods:
  • The method of teaching the reading skills will progress according to what education scientists call The Synthesis Method, which is as follows:
    1. The Total Method
    2. The Partial Method
    3. The Combination Method
    4. The Analysis Method
    5. The Vocal Method
  • The method of teaching the writing skill will be based on direct dictation. The benefit derived from the different dictation methods includes:
    1. Imparted Dictation
    2. Visual Dictation
    3. Audible Dictation
    4. Experimental Dictation
Time plan:
The books in this series are school books. The time needed for each lesson is measured by the time of a standard class, which is 45 minutes. We call each class an "hour study" ,which means the days specified to study this book may increase or decrease according to the hours specified in a day of studying.

Language used in teaching:
The teacher is obligated to speak, explain, analyze and discuss in formal fluent Arabic language. He is not allowed to use an intermediary language whatsoever.

In its different levels, the series adopts the phases that start with before writing and lead to writing drafts, revising them and correcting them. This series covers all educational levels.
    This book is the second volume of this series. It follows the same methodology used in the first volume but with a new style that suits the students of this grade and their ability to understand.     The first student's book contains 5 units, each with 5 lessons and a test. The book in total includes 25 lessons and 4 unit tests. Each lesson consists of a text that includes conversation, an illustrated story, illustrated vocabulary, practice with sounds and letters, two exercises on linguistic structures and conversation, and writing practice. Then, students should complete the accompanying exercises in the the activity book.

    Series goals and components
    The goal of the I Love Arabic series is to enable the student’s verbal and written communication skills in Arabic. To achieve this goal, the series provides the student with educational materials that help them to use the classical language from the start, while also creating an opportunity to use what is learned in real-life situations.

    While this series is directed at non-native speaking children between the ages of 4 and 12, it is also useful in teaching Arab children all over the world.

    This series consists of 8 levels which contain a student textbook, workbook, and teacher book. Some levels also include audio tapes (sold separately).
    Also in this series the book "I Love Arabic Teacher's Guide" is for using images and cards in teaching Arabic.

    Particular times to teach the units
    The series books are taught in about 600 classes (with the average class being 40 minutes).

    Each level has 100 classes, distributed as follows:

    For the first two books:
    75 Classes for the student's book
    25 Classes for the exercise workbook

    From the third book to the sixth book
    80 Classes for the student's book
    20 Classes for the student's book


    Educational content
    The series displays Arabic Islamic manners in an attractive, motivating style for children. It also supplies the student with different levels of general education appropriate to the age (especially the first book). The subjects discussed in this series are child-friendly and include topics such as hobbies and toys, life in school and at home, and relationships with friends, neighbors and relatives. It also studies the animal and plant worlds, the outside world like the village and the city, geographical information about the Arab countries, historical information, good manners and scientific facts.

    Lingual content
    The series displays the vocal system for the Arabic language in its different phenomena and presents vocabularies built around a child. The elementary stage of the series covers around 1,500 words, with the focus in the first two books being on the sensory vocabulary.
    It also supplies the child with a number of basic grammar structures (about 300 compositions), and each lesson contains a specific number of vocabulary, structures and expressions. Additionally, the concept of progression is used from one book to another and from one lesson to another.

    Integration between lingual skills
    The series deals with the four main lingual skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing and uses a complete and balanced approach to all four skills. Special attention is given to speaking and listening in the first two books, and reading and writing are the focus in the third through the sixth books.

    Ways of presenting the educational material
    Various techniques were used throughout this series to make the lessons more interesting for the child. Stories, chants, songs, conversations, lingual games, and amusing homework assignments designed to provoke the student's motivation and needs utilizing child skills such as drawing, coloring and teamwork were used.
    The series contains different kinds of lingual exercises that suit the child, with emphasis on mental and physical activities in an individual, couple, and group setting.
    Each book of the series contains a number of tests for evaluating and measuring the student's progress in learning the language. A test is included at the end of each educational unit; therefore, each book has four transitory tests.
    The curriculum depends heavily on the use of pictures so the student can easily comprehend the meaning, without turning to an intermediary language. Thus, they are given the opportunity to think and express themselves in a fun and interactive way.

    Figured dictionary
    The first two books contain a figured dictionary at the end. This dictionary includes the sensory words mentioned in the lessons so that their meanings remain in the student's memory, and they can reference, if necessary. The figured dictionary also prepares the student to use the Arabic dictionary in the future.

    Vocabulary list
    There is a list of vocabulary at the end of each of the six books. These lists contain all the words that were introduced in each book and are arranged alphabetically for easy referral.

    The Gateway to Arabic Handwriting Book has been written as part of the "Gateway to Arabic" series with a view to giving students the opportunity to learn, practise and acquire proficiency in a fluent style of Arabic handwriting. It is recommended that students should already have completed at least Book One of the Gateway series and be familiar with the Arabic alphabet before embarking upon this book. Although a number of handwriting styles are used in the Middle East, the style taught in this book, namely ruq'ah, is the most widespread and the easiest to learn. Compared to the printed style of Arabic, which is termed naskh, ruq'ah offers the advantage of being much quicker to write. The book has been organised so that identical naskh and ruq'ah texts appear on facing pages for ease of comparison and contrast. The first section sets out the letters of the Arabic alphabet in all their forms: initial, medial, final and isolate. The precise direction and sequence of pen movements for each letter have been clearly indicated through the use of numbered arrows. Having completed the presentation of the alphabet in all its forms, the book then provides the student with the chance to practise copying complete words and phrases, most of which would already be familiar to the Muslim student. A further opportunity for the reinforcement of handwriting skills is given through the copying of selective ayat (verses of the Qur'an). A translation of these verses is included on the page on which they appear.
