Starting from the author's experience in teaching the Arabic language to foreign students in Lebanese schools (Americans, Dutch, British, Italians, Germans, Brazilians, and Spanish), he discovered that they all succeeded in learning Arabic. Yet his main problem was in getting an appropriate textbook, so he had to improvise and come up with some material that would help him in class, and as the saying goes, "necessity is the mother of invention." Thus this book came into existence after a long experience and a lot of effort. The book is divided into three parts. The first part consists of two units. Unit one: This unit uses a tape to teach reading, writing, and listening. It starts by teaching the sound and position of each letter in a word to make it easy to learn. Most of this unit has been translated because the main objective is to be able to read and write regardless of vocabulary and sentence structure. The aim at this stage is to concentrate on the Arabic letter and its different forms. Unit two: After mastering reading and writing, the student will be able to cover most symbols of the Arabic language. This unit is the cornerstone of the next level of understanding, comprehension, and correct reading and writing. In the first part of the series the student acquires the principles of reading and writing by covering the letters of the Arabic language, its symbols, and its sounds. Unit one: In the first unit, the author uses words and expressions that are commonly used in classical and colloquial Arabic in order to draw those two closer together, because after all, they are inseparable. In this unit, included also are the basis of the language; pronouns, past and present tenses, singular, plural for two only, and plural. Repetition is used in order to integrate vocabulary and expressions in the minds of students. At the end of this unit, the student should be able to start speaking, understanding, and comprehending in addition to the reading and writing skills that were acquired in the first unit. The student also gets prepared for the final unit in this book. Unit two: This unit includes the texts and dialogues that the student can listen to on tape, in order to learn some listening skills and thus become familiar with the Arabic language. There are exercises after each text and dialogue in which the student will apply what he has learned. The dialogues are taken from real daily life and they have been translated so that the vocabulary may be memorized and used, especially that the vocabulary is commonly used. The student should be able to practice with other students and the teacher in class as well as in daily life. As for the texts, they vary between scientific and literary writings, the purpose of which is to get the student to discover the logic behind the language and its make up without any need for extensive explanations. As for Grammar, it is considered a separate and secondary element that isn't given much importance especially that it is integrated into the teaching-learning process. What is important is getting to know the correct order in a sentence and understanding its true meaning. That's why grammatical rules are briefly introduced in preparation for the third part of this book„ which will complete the first and second parts.

This book includes 7 educational units that center on children's environment and their everyday activities.
The units are organized as follows:
Let's Talk. Each unit begins with a conversation that includes the linguistic elements, vocabulary, expressions, and grammatical structures. The goal of the conversation is to make the learning process easy and to enable students to communicate using the language.
New Vocabulary. Illustrated words enrich children's vocabulary and provide them with new words to use.
Speaking: Speaking exercises to be completed in pairs allow children to gain fluency using the language by encouraging interaction, sharing, and communication between students.
Reading: The reading texts contain a variety of cultural topics and come in a variety of shapes in order to meet children’s needs to learn about the world around them and become cultured.
The goal here is to:
Accustom students to silent reading and understanding of the content, so that they can become independent readers.
Accustom students to reading aloud, so that the teacher can correct their reading and pronunciation.
New structures. In each unit, students practice creating a new structure of basic Arabic structures. The book presents examples that students can use to create new structures with the help of their teacher.
Supporting vocabulary. The student's book contains supporting vocabulary in the form of an illustrated dictionary in the back of the book. It includes new expressions with pictures to aid in students’ retention of the information.

The Key to Arabic: Book 2 builds on reading and writing skills taught in the first book by introducing students to simple sentence structures and key aspects of Arabic grammar, together with a basic vocabulary of well over three hundred words and expressions. Students are taught how to greet and say goodbye to people, how to introduce themselves, describe where they live, and speak about their nationality. They are also taught some aspects of everyday etiquette. Through this book, students gain an understanding of non-verbal and verbal sentences and are introduced to past and present tense verbs in their simplest singular forms. They also learn about attached and detached singular pronouns, uses of the 3 different cases (nominative, accusative, and genitive), masculine and feminine nouns and adjectives, interrogatives (questioning words), adverbs, prepositions, and many other points of grammar. Explanations are kept short and simple, and the use of color coding throughout the book assists students in learning to recognize the various case endings and verb conjugations more readily. Extensive exercises throughout the book provide ample opportunity for reinforcement and application of the topics covered.
The purpose of this book is to set students on the road to learning Modern Standard Arabic by equipping them with all the skills they need to read and write vowelised Arabic texts.
