Learning about Allāh remains an important focus of the entire series, as well as the life of Nabi Muhammad. The unit on how Islam changed Arabia takes a closer look at the life of Nabi Muhammad before and after receiving divine revelations. With the ritual duties becoming obligatory to students in this age group, several topics on the Fiqh of salāt are introduced. The lives of the four Khalīfas are covered in greater detail in order to explain their contributions to Islam. Several moral-building lessons are also included.

Homework becomes more intensive. Students are required to consult a translation of the Qur’ān to answer some of the homework. As with other Weekend Learning Islamic Studies books, homework is included. There is a workbook available to supplement the homework provided in this Level 6 textbook. Each level in this curriculum begins with topics on Allah, the Qur’an, the Prophet (s), ahadith, or sunnah. The early levels emphasize the five pillars, while later levels contain more detailed studies.
In each level, several lessons are devoted to Islamic values to help children develop a sound understanding of Islamic manners, values, and morals. The lessons are designed so that teachers will have a clear path of instruction and can be covered within a 50-60 minute period. Emphasis on each lesson ensures valuable class time is not wasted.
Weekend Learning Series features a variety of activities, including word matching and scrambles, fill-in-the-blanks, and more. Teachers will appreciate lesson objectives at the beginning of each chapter, built-in homework sections, and vocabulary words at the end of each chapter.
Topics for level 7 include the names of the Qur’an, seeking forgiveness and protection, physical and spiritual purification, guard your tongue, and more. By this level a summarized biography of the Prophet (s) is completed with an understanding of events that shaped his life and early Islam. • Learning and Living Islam: Level 3

The third level in this series of Islamic books that provides young learners with an understanding of their faith.

The Bureau of Islamic and Arabic Education (BIAE)

    Elementary School

    English

    Amira El-Farra Al-Sarraf

The purpose of this series of Islamic books is to provide young learners with an understanding of their faith according to their age level. The language of the texts, the size of the lettering, the style of graphics, and the types of exercises have all been designed to meet the age-appropriate standards for each level. In addition, the content of the text has been written according to a sequential pattern. For example, only certain information about Prophet Muhammad is included in the first level. More details are added at the second level to meet higher levels of student comprehension. This sequencing is a critical part of a strong educational program, which guides the student through a consistent learning process. Although a textbook series is essential for an Islamic Studies curriculum, it is imperative that educators use these books as a stepping stone for an active learning experience. Student retention of knowledge and love for this subject will depend upon the employment of many creative and exciting teaching techniques. Teachers may plan different projects around a particular unit. For example, when discussing "Show Kindness to Animals," students could paint their favorite animals, write a poem, or write a report on an endangered species. Islamic stories and other literature that emphasize moral values would also complement this program well. This series is intended for students who are 6 – 8 years of age. It can serve as a guideline for an Islamic Studies Program at a full-time or weekend school. Parents may also use this series at home. This Book Belongs to the Student where they will begin to learn more about themselves in relation to their family, their friends, their classmates, and most important of all, to Allah, the One and Only God. This is a book filled with wisdom and knowledge that you will need to lead a happy and loving life. It is a gift to you from your parents and teachers, those who love you and want the best for you. Now, it is time for you to receive this special knowledge that has been passed down throughout generations from the time of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, who lived over 1,425 years ago. You will learn and grow in ways that will be exciting. With this knowledge, you will become a part of the worldwide Muslim community.

At this level, the manifestation of the Greatness of Allah in and through the creation and the importance of ihsaan are emphasized. Qur'anic studies include the memorization and recitation of Soorat An-Naba' through Soorat Al-Inshiqaaq, together with basic explanations of these soorahs. Students are introduced to narratives of Prophet Muhammad (s). The worship section deals with the adhaan, obligatory times of prayer and the importance of performing salaah with congregation. Proper care of the masjid and other public property is stressed. The grade concludes with lessons on the importance of developing good manners towards one's neighbors and others. The material is presented, using a spiral approach, where students revisit each area and study it in greater depth each year. The Activity Book, however, engages the student in additional activities on the same lessons dealt with in the Student's Textbook. The difference is that the activities in the Activity Book are more analysis - and - synthesis based, than simple recall type activities. There is also a more practical aspect aligned to activities in the Activity Book.

The ICO project is a distinguished one because:
    1. Our curricula meet the needs of the target audience for integrated, coherent, and appropriate curricula.
    2. They were prepared according to scientific bases, assimilating the most recent educational and psychological theories.
