The Naskh Script Naskh, which means “copying” was developed in the 10th century, and refined into a fine art form in Turkey in the 16th century. Since then it became generally accepted for writing the Qur’an. Naskh is legible and clear and was adapted as the preferred style for typesetting and printing. It is a small script whose lines are thin and letter shapes are round.

Clear handwriting in general, and beautiful handwriting specifically, has a positive impact on its readers. The reader’s eyes are relaxed, regardless of the content. Good handwriting encourages readers to dive in, and approval and satisfaction appear clearly on their faces because humans admire beauty and hard work. Beautiful handwriting also has a linguistic, spiritual, and declarative value. Don’t people stop to read and appreciate a beautifully written sign? On the other hand, unreadable handwriting is barely read and hardly understood and has a negative impact on whoever has to read it. These readers will understandably be annoyed that they have to waste their time, and they will wish they could put the badly written piece aside.
Bad handwriting is offensive and gives the impression that its owner is hasty, careless, irresponsible, confused, and distracted. Bad handwriting may annoy teachers grading tests or prospective employers.
Beautiful handwriting is a talent and a gift from Allah. Clear, easy-to-read handwriting can be acquired by any child, and they can do so by acquiring two things:
The fundamental concepts
Calmness while writing and paying close attention to the examples they model their own writing on
Arabs rely on two types of handwriting: naskh script and ruq’ah script. Naskh script is used in the Gulf countries for younger members of halaqahs (study groups) and ruq’ah script is used in all other halaqahs. Ruq’ah script is also the everyday script of most Arab countries, including Lebanon, and it is used in elementary and middle schools.

Teaching how to write is considered one of the most difficult tasks for parents and teachers. Children see alphabets as weird symbols and they spend a lot of time writing them, something they dislike. My Beautiful Handwriting series - which is a part of My Arabic Language series - is distinguished by following modern educational methods, utilizing drawings, introducing letters gradually and by teaching how to master writing, all of which make learning how to write an interesting and exciting task and desirable by children. The third book of My Beautiful Handwriting comes as a complement and a companion to the first and second books of this series. It begins by teaching Arabic handwriting in an easy and simple way that completes the method we started in the first and second books. We find in the first pages of the book a quick review of the handwriting methods that where discussed in the first and second books, and then we find new exercises that teach to write the letter in a fun and delightful way. In this book, the child begins writing words; for each group of new words a page is prepared, at the top of which there is a comprehensive picture that includes funny drawings taken from the world the child will love. When the child discovers the content of the pictures, he knows the expressive words the letter implanted in his mind as he reads along.
